Induction Training

Childminding, like any other occupation, requires a clear induction to the role and responsibilities.  SCMA have developed a programme to help potential childminders understand what is involved in establishing a home-based childcare and education service.   Our Induction training programme is suitable for those who are considering or progressing with registration and will support preparation for this new career.

SCMA’s Induction training programme was reviewed and revised in line with the demands of the Regulation of Care (Scotland) Act and the Early Education and Childcare Standards and reflects the fact that potential childminders must be more informed than ever before.  The programme was designed to help potential childminders to make an informed decision about becoming a registered childminder, and also to help them complete the Scottish Commission for the Regulation of Care (Care Commission) application process.

The programme is delivered in 2 ½ hour sessions. The sessions are interactive and adopt a group discussion format.  The training is supported by a series of informative handouts that provide support throughout the early stages of childminding.  Where possible, this programme runs in conjunction with Care Commission representation which has been agreed nationally. A Certificate of Attendance is awarded to those who complete the programme.
