SCMA Membership
The Scottish Childminding Association is the only dedicated support organisation in Scotland for childminding. The Association is run by a voluntary board of childminder members and works hard to represent our members on the national stage, in negotiations with government about any matter relating to childminding. Currently over 80% of childminders in Scotland are members of SCMA and we’re striving to increase our membership further still. SCMA is the voice of Scottish childminding, by becoming a member of SCMA you add your voice to thousands of others and strengthens the voice of SCMA.
What do we do?
We are committed to meeting the needs of childminders and to actively raising the public profile of childminding; promoting childminding as a unique family-based childcare choice.
Our members developed our key priorities:
1) Raising the Profile of Childminding and the Work of the Association
2) Improving the Quality of Childminding
3) Recruiting and Retaining Quality Childminders
These key priorities allow us to focus our work in pursuit of SCMA's vision:
Quality Childminding...building confident children within a family childcare experience
Becoming a member of SCMA is an indicator to parents of your commitment to offering a quality service. You’ll be showing a professional approach by ensuring you are informed about new childcare developments and training opportunities. Membership will bring you in contact with other like-minded professionals, through our members’ forum, enabling you to share your experiences and knowledge and continually improve and update your service. Membership increases your awareness of development opportunities through interactions with other childminders and staff of the Association.
