Blueprint 2020 Consultation Events

 Blueprint 2020 Consultation Events
As part of the consultation on the expansion of Early Learning and Childcare (ELC) in Scotland the Scottish Government wants to hear the views of parents and carers and is running a series of Ministerial engagement events with parents in December.

Launched in October, the Scottish Government consultation on ‘A Blueprint for 2020: The Expansion of Early Learning and Childcare in Scotland’ outlines the planned expansion of funded ELC.

As part of the consultation process the Scottish Government wants to hear the views of parents, childminder and other carers, and is inviting you to a series of consultation engagement events in December.

To ensure as many parents and childminders are able to attend a session, the government has scheduled the events in the evening.  SCMA is also encouraging childminders to highlight these events to their parents and ask them to come along to discuss the future of ELC.

Parents, childminders and carers – all our voices matter!

We understand not everyone will be able to attend these events due to their locations; however with 4,500 childminder members across Scotland we must make all our voices heard.  Therefore, even if you can’t attend an engagement event, it is vital that you respond to the Blueprint for 2020 consultation and have your say ahead before any decisions on ELC are put in place.

SCMA is encouraging all childminders to recognise the importance of this consultation, to ensure childminders become more involved in delivering funded ELC and benefitting the wellbeing of young children and their families.

Why should I respond to the Blueprint for 2020 consultation?
Your voices are the most important. Your views are the ones that must be heard in this consultation. It’s also vital that the views of parents - who may want to use your childminding service in the future - should raise their voice, and we’re asking you to encourage parents to play their part and respond to the consultation too.

This is your chance to engage with the government and make your voice heard.  The consultation will close on 9 January 2017.
