Childminders encouraged to enter the 2017 Scottish Play Awards
Could YOU be an award winner? The 2017 Scottish Play Awards are now open for entries, and SCMA is encouraging you to get involved.

The Scottish Play Awards celebrate and encourage those providing stimulating and innovative play experiences for children. Winning an award is a great achievement and shows that you have raised the bar to make play an outstanding experience for children in your home, project or community.

Recognising innovative play within communities around Scotland, individuals and groups can now apply for awards for positive support for play with a childminder at home, at nursery, in school and the wider community.

As an individual childminder, you would enter the ‘Play at Home’. Children’s play in home environments starts at birth and continues throughout their lives as they grow and develop. The Trust is keen to receive applications in this category that are examples of creative, innovative or best practice in play around home settings.

Childminding groups are also encouraged to enter under the ‘Play in the Community’ category, and they’re keen to hear from community groups - both formal and informal - who feel that they have a great story that illustrates the values of the Nancy Ovens Trust and delivers creative or innovative approaches to play in their community.

The Trust is looking forward to your application – don’t forget to tell SCMA about all the fantastic work you’re doing to support play for children and young people in Scotland.
