SCMA Network Evenings get Glowing Report

Network evenings held throughout February by SCMA have received glowing feedback from SCMA members.

The evenings, held in Inverness, Thurso and Elgin, gave childminders the opportunity to learn more about the new inspection methodology introduced by the Care Inspectorate in 2014. Mary Morris, Margaret Murray and Susan Robinson from the Care Inspectorate attended the meetings to answer childminders’ queries and dispel any myths surrounding the new GIRFEC-based approach.

One childminder said; “Having not had a ‘new’ inspection yet I found listening to others discussing their worries and anxieties about inspections really useful.”

As well as discussions with the Care Inspectorate, childminders were also treated to a ‘guided tour’ of the new SCMA website. The site, launched in November 2014, has a wealth of useful information in the My Membership Dashboard. SCMA Quality Improvement Officer, Lynne Murray, showed childminders the advantages the new Dashboard offers including free downloads and Childminder Search Service, the My Learning Log and My Learning Library.

One member commented; “The new SCMA website will provide me with a lot more new and helpful information.”

Another said; “It was an excellent, informative evening. Nothing would have made it better. All three [speakers] gave an excellent service.”

SCMA would like to thank Mary, Margaret and Susan from the Care Inspectorate for their contribution to our meetings.
