Training to help you protect children from second-hand smoke

ASH Scotland is offering training sessions designed to equip people who work with families with the knowledge skills and confidence when supporting parents to protect their children from second-hand smoke.

This training fits in with the Scottish Government’s 'Take it right outside' campaign and the Getting it Right for Every Child (GIRFEC) principles of helping to keep children safe, healthy, respected and nurtured. The training also fits with protecting children's rights, improving their life chances and other key outcomes of the Scottish Government early years and child poverty strategies.

The training will cover:
Health effects of second-hand smoke on children and babies.
Barriers to change and how to overcome them.
Nudging theory and health behaviour change.
Simple steps parents can take to protect their children from second-hand smoke.
Communication skills to support a motivational approach.
Information on any local second-hand smoke initiatives.
