SCMA Is an Open University Champion, thanks to the wide range of learning opportunities and resources we offer our childminder members. Alongside our existing Learn with SCMA workshops and e-Learning, childminders can now also explore a variety of free learning materials and online courses from the Open University (OU). REHIS ELEMENTARY FOOD HYGIENE
Food safety is very important to childminders especially as children can be more seriously affected by food poisoning and food allergy that some other groups of people. The REHIS Elementary Food Hygiene e-Learning course is available for SCMA members only. To book call 0141 272 3218 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
PAEDIATRIC FIRST AID COURSE
This two-day course is tailored specifically for childminders. All relevant areas of first aid are covered, as required by the Care Inspectorate and other relevant bodies. The award covers: assessment of danger, anatomical difference between children and adults, basic life support including CPR, recovery position, choking, head injuries, meningitis, asthma, febrile convulsions, diabetes, epilepsy, burns and scalds, eye injuries, shock, bleeding and bandaging, fractures, electric shock, anaphylactic shock and Epipen, drowning, hanging, requirements of a first aid box, parental administration of medicine.
GLASGOW CLYDE COLLEGE
Thanks to our partnership with Glasgow Clyde College, we can also offer our members access to additional CPD courses, provided you know between 12-25 SCMA members who are interested and want to take part.
