On completion of training, successful candidates will be able to:
o who is unresponsive and breathing normally, including child and infant resuscitation o who is unresponsive and not breathing normally o who has a foreign body airway obstruction o with external bleeding o with injuries to bones, joints and muscles
o sickle cell crisis o diabetic emergencies o asthma attack o allergic reaction o meningitis o febrile convulsions
o who is experiencing the effects of extreme heat and cold o who has sustained an electric shock o with burns or scalds o who has been poisoned o who has been bitten or stung o with minor injuries, including cuts, grazes, bumps and bruises, small splinters and nose bleeds o with conditions affecting the eyes, ears and nose o with head and spinal injuries o with anaphylaxis o who is suffering from shock
Two days. Please note that these are rarely available during the weekends. Candidates are required to complete twelve contact hours of training and assessment. It is therefore necessary that candidates are able to attend for the whole duration of the course to allow them to be eligible for continuous assessment and certification.
9.00am until 4.45pm
Candidates will be assessed throughout the course. Evidence of underpinning knowledge and practical skills must be demonstrated by the candidate.
Successful candidates will receive a St Andrew’s First Aid Training and Supplies Ltd ‘Paediatric First Aid’ certificate, which is valid for three years.
When you successfully complete your First Aid Training, you will be invited to apply for a SCMA Accredited Open Badge. These are digital certificates of accomplishment.

SCMA is pleased to be working in partnership with St Andrew’s First Aid to offer our members First Aid Training. The courses are organised at a venue near you.
A one-day (six hours) course providing all the necessary First Aid Training required for childminders together with a knowledge of what to do in an emergency.
As well as delivering first aid courses in our venues throughout Scotland, St Andrew’s First Aid can deliver the same training to a group on your own premises or agreed venue.
