The importance of child-initiated activities and high-quality adult-to-child interactions cannot be underestimated.

During this Unit learners will explore and reflect on the various considerations around the Quality of Childcare Progression, including: the importance of play; personalised development plans; promoting positive behaviour; and challenging risk.

Unit 4: Quality of Childcare Progression aims to support childminders to:

  • Develop strategies and guidance that supports play.
  • Carry out risk assessment that balance reasonable precautions whilst providing opportunities for development.
  • Develop ways to support children’s resilience, according to the child’s preferences, needs and abilities.

When you have successfully completed this Unit, you can then go on to complete any of the other units in any order. When all six have been successfully completed you will then receive the Complete Childminding Learning Pathway, Work Based Award. This provides a total of 24 credits at SCQF Level 7.
