Big success for Childminding Week 2017

Big success for Childminding Week 2017
We want to say a HUGE thank you to all the SCMA members who made Childminding Week 2017 so special and helped to create such a massive buzz for childminding across Scotland.

It was YOU who brought Childminding Week 2017 to life! Your messages, photos and stories really made Childminding Week happen and gave us a platform to #CheerforChildminding

WATCH | Take a few minutes to relive Childminding Week and look back at Childminding Day 2017 on SCMA's YouTube channel.

We received hundreds of fantastic photos of children across Scotland having lots of great experiences, learning and playing with their childminders. You created a wonderful positive message that will have reached thousands of people – and most importantly, parents.

“Our first ever Childminding Week has been a big success,” said Maggie Simpson, Chief Executive of SCMA. “I really enjoyed seeing all of the great activities, parties and outing you arranged for your minded children throughout the week. It looked like you were all having great fun and this is exactly how childminders help to enrich children’s lives through play, laughter and fun.

“We’re continuing our campaign to raise the profile of childminders in Scotland and improve recognition for the fantastic work that you do everyday within your childminding settings – and your contribution and support during Childminding Week has played a big part in this.”

As we know, this is a crucial time for childminders in Scotland with the expansion of funded Early Learning and Childcare on the horizon. However we think this is also an exciting time, and a chance to celebrate how childminders support the achievement of best outcomes for children in Scotland.

Our #CheerforChildminding tweets earned a total of 24,000 impressions on Twitter during Childminding Week; with our top tweet reaching almost 3,500 people.  On Facebook, you helped us share our key messages, mythbusters and we received a staggering response – with our main post reaching 25,000.

Look back at your Childminding Week celebrations on Facebook or @ScotChildmind on Twitter. To us, this demonstrates exactly how childminders are making a difference to the wellbeing, learning and development of children every day.

A big THANK YOU to everyone who got involved and embraced Childminding Week this year, helping us spread the word and made lots of noise. Let’s keep the conversation going, and always be ready to #CheerforChildminding!

Congratulations to our Childminding Week 2017 prize draw winners! The winning childminding group is Dunblane Childcarers and the individual childminder winner is Kimberley Mahoney from Wishaw. Congrats!
