COVID-19 Vaccine and Regular Testing Reminder

COVID-19 Vaccine and Regular Testing Reminder
It has been reported that the combination of widespread booster vaccinations, regular testing and the management of restrictions, alongside other mitigations is helping to minimise the risk of COVID-19. This shows that actions do make a difference and limiting the transmission of COVID-19 will help us all return to normality as soon as possible.

Yesterday (Tuesday 25 January) all childminders will have received a Provider Update email from the Care Inspectorate, which includes a letter to all childcare providers from Professor Marion Bain, the Interim Deputy Chief Medical Officer for the Scottish Government. The letter contains an invitation to attend vaccine clinics to receive their booster and provides and information on LFD testing and support available to childcare staff.

The COVID-19 Booster
A very high proportion of childminders and ELC staff have already had both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, and many more have also already received their booster. If you have not done so already, you are being encouraged to get your booster as soon as possible.

  • Book your booster appointment HERE or call the National Helpline on 0800 030 8013.
  • Local Health Boards are also offering additional vaccine drop-ins, including evening and weekend slots. More details HERE.
  • It’s not just booster vaccinations that are available - it’s not too late to get your first or second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, and you can book an appointment by calling the National Helpline on 0800 030 8013 or visit a drop-in clinic.

LFD Testing
Regular LFD testing for all individuals without symptoms is very important to help limit the spread of COVID-19. LFD testing will remain a vital tool in helping us to learn to live with the virus over the longer term.

Individuals across all of society are being asked to take Lateral Flow Device (LFD) tests regularly (twice weekly) and on every occasion you intend to mix socially with people from other households. It is vitally important to report your LFD test results whether the result is positive, negative, or void.

Regular testing remains critical even when people are fully vaccinated, as people can still catch and spread COVID-19.

Childminders can access testing kits via the universal offer of free testing, and you can find out more HERE.
