Help drive SCMA forward and Become an Elected Member

As a member of SCMA you are already part of something big – but as an Elected Member you can play an even more influential role and help drive SCMA forward – having your say on the issues that really matter to childminders – just like you – from all across Scotland.

Joining the Scottish Executive Board means you would take a seat alongside your fellow childminding colleagues, who bring their local knowledge and true childminding experiences to the table.

We are currently seeking nominations for 10 new Elected Members – and we want to hear your voice! As an Elected Member, you would play an important role in steering the current and future direction of SCMA. Together we will discuss how we can best represent childminders, listen to your ideas and harness your passion for professional childminding in Scotland.

SCMA is the only organisation in Scotland dedicated to all aspects of childminding. With almost 3,500 childminder members, we look to our Elected Members to provide a ‘voice for childminding’ and represent the values, views and priorities of childminders across Scotland.

Interested in becoming an Elected Member with SCMA?
Great news! We’d love to have you on-board – alongside your childminding colleagues you’ll be helping to drive the organisation forward.

Being an Elected Member gives you the opportunity to make a difference to the progress of SCMA and childminding in Scotland at a national level.

The application process to become an Elected Member with SCMA is very easy to follow, and you will be supported throughout by our team at SCMA.

I’m keen to be involved, but I’m not sure yet - can I find out more?
Yes, of course – you can read our Becoming an Elected Member Briefing Sheet, which will give you an overview and a flavour of what it means to serve on the SCMA Board and will answer some of your questions about what is involved.

In addition, you can also give us a call for an informal chat – this will allow you to ask questions, get a feel for what being an Elected Member entails, and reassure you of any concerns you may have. Please call Louise Buchanan on 01786 434956 or email louise.buchanan@childminding.org.
