Care News – Summer 2015

The summer edition of the Care Inspectorate’s Care News has been published and is full of useful updates.

New Chief Executive, Karen Reid (previously Anderson), tells the magazine she is “determined to continue building excellence across all work of the Care Inspectorate” at a time of significant change in the care sector. SCMA’s Maggie Simpson was involved in the interview process for the new Chief Executive and has welcomed Karen’s appointment to the post.

Also featured is an update on the complaints procedure consultation. An impressive 1371 responses to the consultation were gathered by the Care Inspectorate who will now use the feedback to develop an enhanced complaints procedure for launch in early 2016. We responded to the consultation as an organisation and also encouraged as many of you as possible to respond by promoting the consultation link on our website and social media pages. Remember to check our website, Facebook and Twitter pages regularly for updates.

Last but not least, the redevelopment of the National Care Standards will be overseen by a project board co-chaired by the Care Inspectorate. Again, we responded to this consultation last year and shared it with you online. The Care Inspectorate also shared information on the redevelopment of the Standards at our conference in 2014. We will continue to bring you updates on this piece of work as it progresses over the next 12 to 18 months.
