Falkirk Council partner with SCMA to deliver Early Learning and Childcare information session

Falkirk Council partner with SCMA to deliver Early Learning and Childcare information session
An information session for all childminders working in the Falkirk Council area will be hosted by Falkirk Council, in partnership with Scottish Childminding Association, on Wednesday 2 November 2016. The aim of the event, which is being held in Camelon Education Centre at 7.00 p.m., is to explore options on how Falkirk Council can work with childminders to support the delivery of Early Learning and Childcare (ELC) in line with other partner providers. The main focus will be to share information about Falkirk’s vision for ELC, what the next steps for childminders would be in becoming a partner provider and to gain feedback from childminders on their views and interest in delivering ELC.

Falkirk Council Children’s Services has continued to increase the number of partner providers delivering ELC in order to allow for greater flexibility of access to provision for families living in Falkirk.  As a consequence the Council is continuing to review how to improve on their flexibility, in order to ensure that they are best meeting the needs of parents/carers and ultimately their children. One option that the Council is keen to explore, to enable greater flexibility and quality of provision, is to review the possibility of working with childminders and how best to support them to deliver ELC in line with other partner providers.   With this in mind they have been working with the Scottish Childminding Association to look at the best ways to engage with childminders across Falkirk.

The information session is open to all childminders working in Falkirk Council area (within postcode areas FK1 – FK6, EH519, EH510, EH497 & EH496 only). It will take place on Wednesday 2nd November in Camelon Education Centre, Abercrombie Street from 7.00 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. If you would like to come along to any this event, please email Karen Thomson at karen.thomson@falkirk.gov.uk. Please notify your interest in attending by 21st October 2016.
