Funding Opportunity for Childminding Groups

Asda has launched a new grant application scheme – the Asda Carrier Bag Community Grants fund - for up to £2000.

Childminding groups may consider applying to the grant scheme as the fund can cover running costs, equipment or training. Places at the upcoming International Family Day Care Organisation conference in Edinburgh may also be covered by the grant.

The criteria for the grant application is quite clear:

  • Are you a constituted group?
  • Do you have at least 3 members on your management committee/board?
  • Do you have independently examined annual accounts or a projection of income and expenditure if you are in your first year of operation?
  • Is your income less than £250,000 in your most recent annual accounts?
  • Do you have a bank account in the name of the group?
  • Do you have at least 2 unrelated cheque signatories?

If you can answer yes to these 6 questions the application form is then emailed to the address provided.

Groups should describe as fully as possible the benefits to their local community e.g. number of childminders seeking training; number of minded children benefiting; number of families and the interaction they have with local community events, programmes and other activities etc. Describe any long term benefits to the local community of any learning gained.

The application is fairly straight-forward and only 8 sections long. There is further help and guidance available on the grant application website.
