Get involved in Book Week Scotland 2014

Book Week Scotland 2014 is coming soon, with celebrations getting underway from Monday 24 November. There are lots of ideas and resources you can use to get your minded children excited and enthralled by books.

During Book Week Scotland, the Scottish Book Trust (SBT) invite people of all ages and walks of life to come together – wherever they are – to share and enjoy books and reading.

Until then, there are lots of ways to get your childminding service involved in this year’s Book Week Scotland. You could dedicate more time for books and stories, visit your local library, make a reading pledge or attend a free Bookbug session.

Here’s a few more ideas for you….

Organise a book swap with your childminding group or other childminders in your area.

Share stories, rhymes and songs within your service.

Encourage your minded children to sign up for Bookbug’s Library Challenge.

Attend a free Bookbug session with your minded children. Find your nearest event.

As part of this year’s Book Week Scotland, the SBT is also holding a vote to discover the most loved characters in Scottish fiction. Have your say and pick your favourite character from the SBT’s list of nominees, or nominate your own favourite.

Vote for your favourite Scottish character.

The vote closes at 5pm on Wednesday 26 November and the SBT will announce the winners on Friday 28 November 2014.
