SCMA celebrates Living Wage Week 2017

SCMA celebrates Living Wage Week 2017
Scottish Childminding Association (SCMA) is proud to be an accredited Living Wage employer, and this week we are welcoming the new UK Living Wage rate by celebrating Living Wage Week (5-11 November 2017).

We have been a Living Wage employer for almost two years now and we are committed to paying all our SCMA staff the real living wage - as directed by the Living Wage Foundation.

Maggie Simpson, Chief Executive of SCMA said: “We are proud to celebrate Living Wage Week and implement this increase in the Living Wage.

“It’s a win-win for us and not only helps give our SCMA employees a better standard of living but also helps our business by improving motivation, and retaining and attracting a quality workforce.”

Katherine Chapman, Director of the Living Wage Foundation said: “Year-on-year, we see organisations and businesses across the UK embracing the real Living Wage as they recognise that a fair day’s pay is not only the right thing to do but can improve the quality of staff’s work, reduce absenteeism and increase motivation and retention.

“Today’s increase acknowledges that the cost of living continues to rise for workers everywhere and the leadership shown by businesses who welcome this is a cause for celebration during Living Wage Week, sending a positive message to the business community to show what others can achieve.”

There are currently over 3,500 accredited employers across the UK.
