What's it about?

Planning for every child involves creating rich, challenging, and meaningful learning experiences, building on their individual talents, interests and needs.

Child-led Planning helps you to consider and provide specific experiences and outcomes in order to develop and support every child’s needs and support them to achieve their full potential.

This course aims to give childminders the support needed to:

  • Explore how planning can support children’s development and enrich their experience.
  • Explore Child-Led Planning and individual care plans.
  • Enhance your own enjoyment, satisfaction, and confidence in a job well done.

Key learning during this course includes understanding and explaining:

  1. The stages of child development and principles of Child-Led Planning and how to take account of these when planning for the children.
  2. The role of a childminder when supporting children to access exciting, challenging, self directed play opportunities.
  3. How to create meaningful experiences for all children including children with additional support needs.
  4. Explain your understanding on the Curriculum for Excellence and how this works for all children within a childminding service.
  5. Explain how to involve children, parents and carers in your planning process.
