A special festive gift from SCMA
Each year SCMA supports a charity at Christmas and this year the SCMA Scottish Executive Board has chosen Renfrewshire-based charity ‘Brightest Star’ to receive our festive gift.

Brightest Star Brightest Star is a charity that provides support to heartbroken parents and families following the death of a child.  Brightest Star is founded in memory of Jack Kennedy, who suddenly fell asleep and became the brightest star in the sky.

Nominated by Elected Member Susannah Knox from Inverclyde, Brightest Star supported a local mum and friend who tragically lost her son Robbie Quigg two years ago in a road accident.

Susannah added: “The charity supports families through the loss of a child and as supporting families is integral to childminding, I felt Brightest Star was very apt and a wonderful cause for SCMA to support with their annual Christmas donation.”

Arlene Smith from Brightest Star said: “We are delighted to receive a donation from the Scottish Childminding Association.

“This donation will allow us to provide much needed support to families affected by the death of a son, daughter, grandchild or sibling – and it will also increase awareness of Brightest Star to families who may not be aware of us.”

SCMA is delighted to support the incredible work of Brightest Star and the invaluable support they provide to families when they need it most.
