The aim of this course is to gain a better understanding of child development (between 0-3 years) and the theory behind it. This will enable childminders to develop an understanding of their role in child development for this age group, and support childminders to review and develop their practice.

The course objectives are to:

  • Explore how children learn and develop from ages 0-3 years.
  • Explore how childminders can aid children to learn and develop through experiences and play.
  • Explore types of play, schemas and theories.
  • Explore observing and assessing development, including developmental delay
