This course aims to raise your awareness of the Getting it Right for Every Child (GIRFEC) approach and its connection to United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) in Scotland. It will help you to understand the National Practice model and raise your awareness of the Named Person and The Lead Professional.

The purpose of the course is to show how you - as a childminder - can use GIRFEC and the National Practice Model resources to enhance your service. It will introduce you to the child-centred approach called ‘Getting it right for every child’ (GIRFEC), and we will identify your role as a childminder in GIRFEC and how you can best fulfil it. When you have completed the course, we hope to have given you sufficient knowledge to enable you to take a child-centred approach to your daily practice as a childminder.

The aims and objectives of this course are:

  • Principles and Values
  • Wellbeing Indicators
  • National Practice Model
  • Named Person
  • Lead Professional and Information Sharing
