This course is designed to help you understand the signs and indicators of neglect, the risk factors linked to wellbeing and safety, and your role in supporting children who may be experiencing neglect. This will enable you to review and develop your practice and to confidently seek support in line with current legislation.

This course will explore:

  • The various types of neglect and what this means for children, young people and families.
  • The various factors which may impact on a parent/guardian’s ability to meet a child or young person’s needs.
  • The difficulties neglect situation can present for childminders in practice, and the important of assessment, analysis and good record keeping.
  • Where neglect sits within child protection.

Our Learn with SCMA team can arrange any SCMA course to come to you - wherever you are in Scotland.  

Provided you know at least six SCMA members interested in a particular course, we can provide the training.  We can arrange for any of our Continuing Professional Learning courses to be organised for groups of 8-20 SCMA members at a date, time and place to suit you and your group.
