Childminders are invited to apply for the ELC Innovation Awards to gain recognition of the positive impact they have on the wellbeing and learning of children.
The ELC Innovation Awards are now open for applications and SCMA is encouraging childminders who deliver funded Early Learning and Childcare (ELC) to get involved. This is an opportunity for the Scottish Government to identify settings that have demonstrated innovation and impact in some aspect of their practice.
As well as celebrating the wide range of high-quality ELC being delivered in Scotland, the Awards also highlight the innovative initiatives from funded ELC providers and showcase aspects of practice that has improved outcomes for children and their families.
Up to 10 successful settings will receive a grant of up to £5000 to support them to develop their innovative practice, share it at a national level and receive a package of training and support from experts, including the Care Inspectorate, the Scottish Government, Education Scotland and the Children and Young People’s Improvement Collaborate.
Applicants must:
-Be delivering the funded ELC entitlement
-Have received good or above in their latest Care Inspectorate inspection report in all inspected themes.
-Be willing to work with the dedicated support team to develop and share their innovate practice over the course of the funding period.
When applying, it is important to remember the aim of the project, which is to share learning and showcase the journey of improvement for each successful setting with emphasis on how to achieve on-going improvement.
The ELC Innovation Awards allow a deeper understanding of how ELC settings can improve and potentially transform their practice to achieve better outcomes for children and families, as well as encouraging more settings to take innovative approaches to improve their practices.
