Challenging Gender Stereotypes

Challenging Gender Stereotypes
Zero Tolerance has produced a webinar ‘Challenging Gender Norms and Stereotypes’ designed to support childminders raising children in a non-restricting environment regarding what is suitable for boys and girls.

Many SCMA members took part in this online event last year, and now thanks to our working relationship with Zero Tolerance, we are able to make the webinar available online exclusively for members who missed the event or would like a re-cap.

It’s never too early to question what is seen as ‘normal’ or what is traditionally expected of boys and girls in our society.  Children should decide for themselves what they think is interesting and fun. We know that play matters, and children need a wide range of play opportunities to develop different skills.

The ‘Challenging Gender Norms and Stereotypes’ webinar supports childminders, parents and carers in:

- Looking at gender inequality in Scotland and how sexism takes root in the early years.
- Explaining the connection between violence against women and gender stereotyping.
- Offers links to other resources you may want to consider using within your setting.

This free webinar, developed by Zero Tolerance, is an ideal learning resource for childminders to help support their professional growth.  Login to the Membership Dashboard to access the exclusive webinar from our Learning Library.

Remember to update your personalised Learning Log once you have watched and completed the webinar to evidence your learning and development.
