Childminders invited to ‘Bookbug for the Home’ courses

Childminders invited to ‘Bookbug for the Home’ courses
The Scottish Book Trust (SBT) is running ‘Bookbug for the Home’ courses in Edinburgh and Glasgow on a Saturday, which could be an ideal learning and practical opportunity for childminders.

Bookbug for the Home is a flexible approach that can be used to engage families in one-to-one interactions or in small groups. The course is designed to give you the knowledge and confidence to engage children and families in singing, rhyming, talking and book sharing in the home.

Encouraging you to recognise and share the benefits of singing and talking, the course will also help you explore how to sensitively approach these activities in light of barriers that may exist in some families.

Sessions are taking place all across Scotland, but two sessions have been planned especially on a Saturday to encourage childminders to attend and embrace the benefits of Bookbug for the Home:

Edinburgh: Saturday 9 November, 10am–1pm
Glasgow: Saturday 30 November, 10am–1pm

(PLEASE NOTE: This type of training session does not train you to run a full 30-minute Bookbug Sessions with groups. This session provides an overview for Bookbug in the Home)
