This event sold out extremely quickly, and it is encouraging to see so much interest from childminders. We have listened to you, and understand your frustration – therefore, we are working with the Scottish Government to arrange a second engagement event. Details will follow soon, and we will share with childminders as soon as we can - please keep an eye on your email email inbox.
As this is an interactive engagement event, we have been advised that the number of participants must be limited to 60 for practical reasons to enable discussion. As a result, we anticipate that places for a second event will also sell out very quickly – and this may lead to further disappointment.
To ensure that all childminders are aware of the discussions, we will publish an update and briefing note that will be shared with you after the event. This will allow you to read about what has been discussed and the issues that have been raised which we’re sure will reflect the views of many childminders.
Please be assured that this will not be the only opportunity to comment and that SCMA will be working very closely with the Scottish Government as the proposals develop to ensure that childminding is fully involved.
The Scottish Government is hosting an engagement event with childminders to help inform future plans for building a system of funded wrap-around school age childcare which will support families with low incomes.
It is vital that childminders are involved in these discussions to ensure there is a collaborative approach to future plans and your views are heard.
You are invited to attend the virtual session on Monday 29 November 2021 at 6.45pm.
The event will explore how the Scottish Government will work with the childminding workforce and SCMA to meet their commitment to school age childcare. It will also be an opportunity for you to hear from policy officials at the Scottish Government about plans to deliver on this commitment.
You are invited to share your thoughts, ask questions and contribute your experience and knowledge as part of the planned engagement. More events will also be planned for 2022 to help inform the co-design of the future delivery.
