SCMA is delighted that our
Community Childminding Service is expanding in Fife, in partnership with Fife Council. Our Community Childminding Service already covers Cowdenbeath, Dunfermline, Glenrothes and Kirkcaldy, and from October we will be undertaking a phased expansion to also be able to support children and families in all remaining areas of Fife. As such, SCMA is currently recruiting for more Community Childminders in Fife.
SCMA’s
Community Childminding Service provides support to vulnerable families during times of need, crisis or as an intervention to prevent one from occurring. In the last three years alone, our Community Childminding Service has helped more than 900 vulnerable families in Scotland.
Families may be referred for a number of reasons, from behavioural issues to stress caused by relationship breakdowns or a parent experiencing mental illness. Community Childminders can enhance the wellbeing of children and their families by providing a safe space, away from the stressful situation where they can focus on their specific needs.
Childminders play a vital role in 'making a difference' and improving outcomes for the development and wellbeing of children and their families, which is fundamental to the Community Childminding Service. In addition, being a Community Childminder also provides a source of enhanced income and business sustainability for your setting– and you will be part of team helping to make a difference to children and families in your community.
Johanne Wood, a Childminder in Fife for 32 years, became a Community Childminder two and a half years ago: “Although I recently gave up full time Childminding, I decided to continue with being a Community Childminder as I love providing this support for children and families. Community Childminding also gives me the flexibility and freedom to pick and choose my hours. I undertook SCMA’s Community Childminding course and I’ve never looked back. I would really encourage other childminders in Fife to think about becoming involved. It’s such a rewarding experience.
