Childminders across Scotland are invited to attend an online event to find out more about the Graduate Apprenticeship with the University of the Highlands and Islands (UHI) with a view to achieving a BA in Early Learning and Childcare.
The online information event, taking place on
Tuesday 8 March at 4pm, is an ideal starting point if you are interested in the opportunity to gain a degree in Early Learning and Childcare and work towards formalising your skills and knowledge.
Following a three-year pilot of the Graduate Apprenticeship, the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) has now formally approved the programme with UHI, enabling potential apprentices - just like yourself - to register as a degree-qualified practitioner in Early Learning and Childcare.
Childminders interested in the Graduate Apprenticeship with UHI can also benefit from funding from the Student Awards Agency Scotland (SAAS), thanks to influencing from SCMA, UHI and the Scottish Government, to ensure that self-employed childminders would be eligible for funding and that it is fully accessible.
In addition, as the course is available online, it is not restricted by location, and all childminders across Scotland can access the programme.
Interested? Come along to the UHI’s online information event and find out how you could undertake this degree and hear from current apprentices who have been part of the three-year pilot programme. Find out more and register for the event
HERE.
Additional Note
This event is hosted by UHI and is not a childminding-specific event; therefore the timing is out with the control of SCMA, and is open to all individuals across the ELC sector. We appreciate that that timing of the event will not be suitable for all childminders.
Please email
marketing@childminding.org to note your interest if you are interested in the Graduate Programme and we can investigate the possibility of an additional event at a more suitable time for childminders. In addition, you can also email
Julie.Jones.ic@uhi.ac.uk, the Programme Lead at UHI, who will be happy to answer any questions and provide more information about the programme.
