Nappy Changing Guidance: Infection Prevention and Control in Childcare Settings

Recently SCMA has received queries about ‘new’ nappy changing guidance some childminders have been advised of by the Care Inspectorate.

We can confirm the guidance childminders should use is still ‘Infection Prevention and Control in Childcare Settings’. Large childminding services should use the guidance found in ‘Nappy changing facilities in early years, nurseries and large childminding services’ (please note: a large childminding service is defined as “a service that caters for eight or more children with two or more adults caring for them").

‘Infection Prevention and Control in Childcare Settings’ is currently being reviewed and this may have caused some confusion. SCMA is involved in the review and will inform all members when the updated guidance becomes available.
