National Stress Awareness Day, Wednesday 2nd November

National Stress Awareness Day, Wednesday 2nd November
Today is National Stress Awareness Day which encourages the opportunity to remove the stress from your life for the day.  Not perhaps fully achievable for childminders but it is good to recognise that stress is a big problem and there are strategies in place on how to address it.

With regards to childminding, SCMA offers a Smooth Transitions workshop which explores good relations with parents and children, helping to alleviate some of the stress factors involved with separation.

The Smooth Transitions workshop explores separation fears of parents and children, establishes settling in procedures, acknowledges stranger anxiety and helps to relieve some of the stress of childminding with smooth transitions.  The way in which the first transitions are handled could have a significant impact on a child’s capacity to cope with change in the short and long term.

Other workshops which could potentially help with stress which SCMA deliver includes: Tears, Tantrums and You, and Inspection Insights. So whatever stressors lie ahead for you – Inspection, Managing Behaviour, Smooth Transitions – remember SCMA has a workshop for you.

It is also worth remembering that our Learn with SCMA team can arrange any SCMA workshop to come to you – wherever you are in Scotland – provided you know at least six SCMA members interested in a particular workshop.  We will arrange any of our workshops at a date, time and place to suit you and your group.  If you are not sure if there are six members in your area who would like the training you are interested in, then register a note of interest with the SCMA team and they will do their best to start building demand.  Call the team on 01786 445377 or email trainingbookings@childminding.org

The best way to celebrate Stress Awareness Day is to take the opportunity to examine your life, find out where stressors lie, and start looking into taking steps to remove them or find ways to mitigate them. Whatever you choose to do, take the time to take a day off and let yourself have a day of freedom. Stress can be a killer so act now and start on the pathway to living a stress free life!
