New Self-Evaluation Question from Care Inspectorate: Evaluating your support to children and families during COVID-19

New Self-Evaluation Question from Care Inspectorate: Evaluating your support to children and families during COVID-19
The Care Inspectorate has launched Key Question 5 as part of their self-evaluation procedure for all early years and childcare settings, to evaluate how you have been supporting children and families during COVID-19.

Childminders are encouraged to complete this evaluation as soon as possible as part of your on-going and continual self-evaluation and the Care Inspectorate has indicated that from 10 August, some providers may be asked to submit their evaluation on a risk and sampling basis. The Care Inspectorate may also undertake other scrutiny activities in settings before this date.

The Care Inspectorate have advised they will use the completed self-evaluation to assess how well your setting is managing the situation and consider whether further scrutiny is required.  If no further scrutiny work is undertaken an assessment of your self-evaluation will be sent to you and may be shared with the local authority if you are providing funded Early Learning and Childcare (ELC).

SCMA will be developing guidance to support childminders with this aspect of self-evaluation and we will update you on this in due course.

In the meantime, further information can be found here and information has been sent to providers as part of their regular email updates.
