Qualifications Survey from the Care Inspectorate

Qualifications Survey from the Care Inspectorate
All childminders will have received an email from the Care Inspectorate via its eForms system on behalf of the Scottish Government asking you to complete an online survey to determine the current qualifications of childminders in Scotland.

However, the Care Inspectorate has informed us that the closing date for this survey is tomorrow (Wednesday 13 December), which is a very tight timeline – but we hope as many childminders as possible will take part and be involved.

Leading the Childminding Learning and Development Resource project, Tracey Joyce said: “We know that childminders are already delivering high quality provision. However, the skills base of the sector is often overlooked or misunderstood by parents, carers and other professionals working in the sector.

“In the Blueprint 2020 Expansion of Early Learning and Childcare (ELC) Action Plan for 2017-18, the Scottish Government is committed to working with SCMA and the Care Inspectorate to consider the requirement for childminders to be qualified to the same level as an ELC practitioner.

“A full consultation with childminders is planned before any changes in policy take place; however, understanding the current level of qualifications held by childminders is important.”

The survey will only take you a couple of minutes to complete, and it’s vital that all childminders are involved to ensure future developments are well informed.
