The Care Inspectorate is issuing an email to all childminders via the eForms system today (Thursday 30 August), asking you to take part in their ‘National Survey for Registration’, as they look to improve the registration and variation process for all care services in Scotland.
If you have registered as a childminder in the last 12 months - or if you have submitted a variation -this survey is aimed at you. The Care Inspectorate is keen to hear your thoughts on the process, how they can be improved and the support you received.
For those childminders completing this survey, many will have taken part in SCMA’s Childminding Induction Support Programme and received our Strong Foundations Pack.
Our Strong Foundations Pack is a comprehensive step-by-step guide that helps potential childminders through the registration process and into their first year as a childminder.
SCMA as a national organisation - dedicated to supporting childminding in Scotland - will also be contributing to this review, using our childminder-specific knowledge and statistics gathered from our national Helpline, which receives more than 250 calls each month regarding registration with the Care Inspectorate.
Whether it’s via our Helpline, general enquiries to our local and Head Office staff or at our Childminding Induction Learning Course – SCMA is ideally placed to help guide and influence the Care Inspectorate’s upcoming changes and future improvements.
If relevant to you and your childminding service, we would ask you to complete the survey and use your experiences to improve the registration process for future childminders.
