Remember your Annual Return for the Care Inspectorate!

Remember your Annual Return for the Care Inspectorate!
Each year, the Care Inspectorate asks you to complete their Annual Return questionnaire.  Over 90% of childminders completed last year’s questionnaire, and this is a good response rate but the Care Inspectorate would like to see this increase.

Your annual return is essential and tells the Care Inspectorate about your service and helps them plan and carry out inspections. The questionnaire also gives the Care Inspectorate a useful insight into the overall state of childminding in Scotland.

Your annual return will be available to complete or update online at eforms.careinspectorate.com between 4 January and 15 February 2019.

The Care Inspectorate’s website careinspectorate.com has answers for your frequently asked questions under ‘Annual Returns’ in the ‘Professionals’ section.  If you don’t find the answer to your question there, you can call their eForms helpdesk on 0345 600 9527.

Childminders who register as a childminder on or after 1 October 2018 should try to complete an annual return this year.  Although it’s not mandatory for these childminders, any information supplied will be used by the Care Inspectorate, Scottish Social Service Council and Scottish Government.  The information you put in will automatically appear in the 2019 annual return and you’ll only need to enter any information that has changed.

When you have completed your annual return, make sure you click on the 'Submit' button at the top of the screen.  A data protection statement will appear.  To complete your return, you must select the 'I Agree' box.  If you don’t get an email confirming submission, check the form to see if you have entered all the information correctly.

Remember - even if your service is inactive, you must submit an annual return.

You can log in to your Care Inspectorate eForms account from any computer connected to the internet.  If you don’t have a computer at home, local libraries and resource centres usually have them.  If you have no way to access the internet, call the eForms helpdesk on 0345 600 9527.
