SCMA is approved as an SQA Centre
Scottish Childminding Association (SCMA) is both delighted and proud to announce that we have successfully achieved our new status as an official SQA Approved Centre.

Achieving SQA Approved Centre status is another huge step forward for SCMA, enabling us to offer learning opportunities that are specific to childminding, accredited to SQA and give the childminding workforce the chance to work towards a qualification.

Caroline McGrory, the Training Manager at SCMA, said: “We are thrilled to hear that we’re now an SQA Approved Centre – we’re now in a position where we will soon be able to offer SQA-accredited learning opportunities that will stand up and be recognised alongside other qualifications.

“There is no doubt that our SQA approval will benefit the learning and recognition of existing childminders – who are already providing high-quality early learning and childcare across Scotland - and it will also benefit future generations of childminders yet to join the profession.”

Head of Childminding Services at SCMA, Anne Condie said: “I’m delighted with this news and I want to thank SQA for all their help and advice over the last six months. Their support has been crucial in ensuring we achieved our SQA Approved Centre status at such an opportune time.”

The Learn with SCMA team is looking forward to rolling out the Complete Childminding Learning Pathway – a Work Based Award in the coming weeks.  SCMA members will have already read about the Work Based Award – due to be accredited by SQA – in the latest issue of their Childminding magazine.

Following the official confirmation from our new colleagues at SQA, they said: “We are looking forward to a long and successful partnership with your centre and wish you every success in offering our qualifications.”

Our official launch of the new Complete Childminding Learning Pathway – a Work Based Award will take place this Saturday (21 April 2018) at the SQA Headquarters in Glasgow.
