Care Inspectorate Self-Assessment Update

Care Inspectorate Self-Assessment Update
All care services in Scotland, including childminders, will be receiving an email from the Care Inspectorate in the next few days regarding self-assessments.

Childminders should continue to update and submit their self-assessment in the normal way, as you are already using the new quality-themed level self-assessment process.

All registered care services must complete an online self-assessment at the start of each inspection year, using the Care Inspectorate’s eForms system.

Due to the upcoming introduction of the new National Health and Social Care Standards (previously known as the National Care Standards), a number of changes are required this year to bring the Care Inspectorate’s self-assessment process in line with the new standards.

All other care services are still using the original self-assessment system which is not compatible with information regarding quality statements. As a result, those services do not have to complete a self-assessment this year.

Childminders are reminded to update and complete their self-assessment for 2017/18 and submit via eForms as normal.

The Care Inspectorate will provide more information about the new National Health and Social Care Standards and self-evaluation throughout the year. Keep yourself up-to-date by regularly checking your emails, logging into the Care Inspectorate's eForms system for the latest updates.

If you have any questions or queries, please call the Care Inspectorate general enquiries number (0345 600 9527) or the SCMA Helpline (Mon-Fri, 10am-4pm).
