The Childcare Support Fund (CSF) was launched recently by the Scottish Government to support low-income families who are living in, or who are at risk of living in poverty.
The CSF aims to help families manage the cost of childcare for a short period of time, whilst they attend job interviews or participate in training opportunities that will support their employability and longer-term financial stability.
We are delighted to now officially welcome referrals from SCMA members across Scotland, who know of a family who could benefit from them being able to provide funded, short-term childcare for their child(ren) to help reduce financial pressures during times of challenge or transition.

What can the CSF help with?
Families can be supported by the Fund to:
- Pay for childcare to attend interviews or training courses to improve employability.
- Cover childcare costs while parents take up employment until they can afford childcare.
- Reduce the cost of living pressures caused by increasing childcare costs while parents secure higher paid employment.
- Maintain parents’ income during school holidays where they might have had to reduce working hours to cover childcare.
- Support with work-related developments which may cause a family to reduce their childcare and risk going into child poverty (e.g. where a family has had to reduce or give up childcare due to changes in parental employment).
