Easing of COVID-19 Restrictions from 19 July
With COVID-19 restrictions in Scotland easing from today (Monday 19 July), the whole of Scotland is now operating at Level 0.  While this is a very positive step, it’s important to remember that Level 0 does not mean that there are no COVID-19 restrictions at all; cases remain high and caution is still required for example in Scotland, face coverings are still required and there are still limits on gatherings.

As you will know, the Childminder Services Guidance is still in place -  and from today, all childminders should be operating within the Scottish Government’s updated Childminder Services Guidance, which was shared with you earlier this month to enable settings to be able to implement changes gradually.

The most significant changes of Scotland moving to Level 0 today which may affect your childminding setting include:

  • Blended Childcare - there are no restrictions on blended placements from today (Level 0).

  • Visits to your childminding setting – parents / carer visits to childminding and other settings are still not permitted (this will be reviewed before the new school terms starts). However, there are now no restrictions on professionals visiting settings (with risk assessments and social distancing and mask wearing to be observed). Importantly, this means that SCMA staff will be able to visit members who need support in their settings.

  • Social Distancing - childminders can meet other childminders outdoors/away from their setting, following the social distancing guidelines. For further background information, socially in Scotland, within Level 0 - up to 10 people from four households can now meet in an indoor public place like a café, pub or restaurant and up to 15 people from 15 households can now meet outdoors. Under 12s do not count towards the total number of people meeting outside or indoors)
