Have fun with fillings on National Sandwich Day

Get ready to have some fun with fillings and discover new lunchbox favourites. Yes, that perfect occasion to create new taste sensations with your minded children is happening on Friday 3 November - National Sandwich Day.

Teaching children to prepare their own food is an important life skill and helping children make their own sandwiches will develop: self-esteem; confidence; and a sense of independence.

Did you know that when it comes to food, childminders should follow Setting the Table guidance from NHS Health Scotland? This guidance acknowledges that the eating habits developed in the early years frequently last into adulthood, so childminders have an ideal opportunity to support the development of positive food habits from a very early age.

SCMA offer a CPD workshop and e-Learning covering ‘Infection, Prevention and Control in Childcare Settings’.  And, did you know that an estimated four times as many incidents of food poisoning occur in the home when compared with commercial premises, like restaurants and cafes?

Our Infection, Prevention and Control in Childcare Settings workshop looks at a childminder’s duty of care to provide a safe environment for children, and helps to raise awareness of childminder-specific health and safety issues.
