Respond to the Out of School Care Framework Consultation

Respond to the Out of School Care Framework Consultation
The Out of School Care team at the Scottish Government are looking to hear your thoughts and feedback on the draft framework that is currently under consultation.

Following on from the team’s previous engagement with childminders, where you were asked to take part in a short online survey and at the SCMA conference, they were delighted to hear about the benefits of childminding services and how the Scottish Government could better meet the needs of families.

And now, to help inform the draft Out of School Care Framework, the Scottish Government and SCMA are encouraging you to support the current consultation. Your feedback and responses will help to inform the draft framework which has now progressing through the consultation phase, with almost 500 responses so far!

SCMA is also part of the consultation reference group, where we will provide a voice to highlight the role of childminders in out of school care, and ensure the new framework takes consideration of the unique nature of childminding.

Janine Ryan, Head of Childminding Services at SCMA said: “The high-quality care that childminders provide to children of all ages - including school-age and during holidays - forms a large part of children’s learning, socialisation and development, and is something that we want to ensure is valued and considered.

“Our colleagues at the Scottish Government would be delighted to hear directly from childminders who are delivering out of school care; asking you to highlight the vital role that you play in supporting children of all ages, their families and the wider community.”
