Cash for Kids Winter Fund for Families

Cash for Kids Winter Fund for Families
The Cash for Kids ‘Winter Fund’ grants are available for families to apply for support towards food, fuel and basic essentials, with the aim to provide help to individual families affected by poverty between now and March 2021.

The Winter Fund Grants from Cash for Kids are supported by Scottish Government, and are awarded to provide support via food, heating, toiletries or basic essentials to meet the individual needs of families and children living in poverty.

The Winter Fund is available to families in the following areas:

Argyll and Bute, East Dunbartonshire, East Renfrewshire, Glasgow, Inverclyde, North Lanarkshire, Renfrewshire, South Lanarkshire and West Dunbartonshire, Dumfries and Galloway, Tayside, Edinburgh, the Lothians, Fife, Falkirk, Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, Highlands, Moray and Aberdeenshire.

If you live out with these areas, please email scott.cameron@childminding.org and we will investigate if your area is also running a similar grant scheme.

Grants of £100* per child are available for pre-school children, affected by poverty and who are not eligible for free school meals, and young people aged 16-18 years old. Children who are eligible for free school meals are not eligible, as they will be receiving support direct from their local authority.

If you are a childminder and know of a family who would be eligible for a grant from the Cash for Kids Winter Fund, please complete the nomination form and return this to scott.cameron@childminding.org

As grants are only available to constituted groups, registered charities and organisations, SCMA will take forward completed applications with Cash for Kids.  These funds will then be transferred to the childminder who will then purchase the items on behalf of the family. Receipts will need to be returned to SCMA for proof of spend, and any money that is not used will need to be repaid.
