Are you currently using Making Tax Digital (MTD) for Income Tax? We want to hear from you!
In partnership with our colleagues and counterparts at Coram PACEY – who support childminders in England and Wales – a survey has been launched for specifically for childminders who are now using Making Tax Digital (MTD) for Income Tax.
Designed to help us understand how the introduction of MTD for Income Tax is affecting childminders, the survey will allow us to build a clear picture of the challenges and opportunities that MTD is creating for the workforce. Your input will also strengthen our work with HMRC, so that together we can improve the support available to the childminding sector.
If possible, we recommend completing the survey after you’ve submitted your first MTD return. This is because some of the questions ask you about the financial impact of the changes, and these questions will be easier to answer once you’ve completed the process.
Complete the Survey HERE and it should only take five minutes of your time, and - as always - your feedback is vitally important.
Your real-life experiences will help us highlight what’s working, identify where support is needed, and make the case for improvements – and the findings will inform our discussions with HMRC in the future, as we call for better guidance and practical support.

Looking for Support with MTD for Income Tax?
HMRC is encouraging childminders affected to take action now to ensure you are ready. The first deadline for MTD is approaching for childminders with a turnover of £50,000+. MTD is now legally required if your turnover is more than £50,000, and the deadline for your first quarterly update is Friday 7 August 2026.
