Childminders invited to ELC Partnership Forum Event

Childminders invited to ELC Partnership Forum Event
Planning is underway for a Scottish Government Early Learning and Childcare (ELC) Partnership Forum event. Specifically targeted at the childminding workforce, and taking place on Saturday 25 April in Glasgow, you are being asked to register your interest today.

This is an information event for all childminders in Scotland, which will look at ‘Being and Becoming a Funded ELC Provider’. At the event, you will hear from the Scottish Government, local authorities, the Care Inspectorate and fellow childminders who are already involved in offering funded hours, as well as the organisations that support childminders in different ways – including SCMA.

You’ll have the chance to find out more about:
the National Standard (which all funded ELC providers will need to meet from August 2020), and what this means in practice for you as a childminder
the requirement for childminders to have or be working towards the benchmark qualification, and the support that’s available to you
the Care Inspectorate’s new quality framework and what it means in a childminding setting

All childminders are invited and encouraged to attend this event, which is being held on a Saturday to ensure maximum attendance from you all.

Due to the high volume of interest, you are advised to register your interest as soon as possible. Please follow this two-stage registration process for the event:

1. Stage 1
Register your interest by Friday 20 March using the registration of interest form
2. Stage 2
You will receive an email from the Scottish Government in the week beginning Monday 23 March to confirm if you have been allocated a place at the event. If you have a place, you will be invited to book workshops.

If you experience any issues with the form contact ELCPartnershipForum@gov.scot.

If you are unable to attend the ELC Partnership Forum event, the content and any presentations will be made available after the event and posted on the Scottish Government’s Knowledge Hub. If you are not already a member of the Knowledge Hub and would like to join, please also send an email to ELCPartnershipForum@gov.scot.

SCMA is a hosting partner of the event, and we are delighted that childminding is taking centre-stage at this national event. We are keen to showcase and highlight the positive impact of childminding on the development and wellbeing of children, and the true value of childminders as high-quality childcare providers as part of the ELC expansion later this year.
