Local Events to celebrate Childminding Week 2019

Local Events to celebrate Childminding Week 2019
It's less than a week to go, and the biggest celebration of childminding in Scotland is coming soon…it's Childminding Week 2019 (6-12 May)!

It's great to see so many local SCMA events taking place, giving many local childminders and groups that opportunity to come together and #CheerforChildminding.

What’s happening in your area? Take a look at some of the local Childminding Week events taking place this year:..

South Lanarkshire
Lisa France has invited childminders, groups and their minded children to put their best foot forward and #CheerforChildminding with a big toddle around James Hamilton Heritage Loch in East Kilbride on Friday 10 May. Everyone will be looking fabulous in their fancy dress and their local MSP Linda Fabiani will be there too!

City of Glasgow - THIS EVENT IS CANCELLED DUE TO UNFORESEEN CIRCUMSTANCES
Jacqui is hosting a Childminding Week celebration on Wednesday 8 May in Glasgow for local childminders and groups to come along and join them for a day of #CheerforChildminding fun and games - with stories, games and songs from Bookbug, face-painting and a bouncy castle. Childsmile are also going to be involved handing out free resources for childminders.

Aberdeen City
Loraine has organised a whole programme of local #CheerforChildminding events throughout the week for childminders and groups in Aberdeen to enjoy, with each activity co-ordinating with the theme for each day of Childminding Week:

Monday: ‘Stories’ at Beach Park to collect stones and shells and tell a story!
Tuesday: ‘Adventure’ at Fuzzy Eds where children can dress up as a pirate…arrrrh!
Wednesday: ‘Friends and Family’ themed-day at Duthie Park for loose parts play and fun!
Thursday: Being ‘Amazing’ at the City Library for a BookBug session and a Scavenger Hunt!
Friday: To champion the theme of ‘Respect’ a visit to Cloverfield Grove Care Home to enjoy some home-baking and a game.

Midlothian
Lisa Mackay is hosting a partnership event with Playbase and Midlothian Council on Tuesday 7 May and coinciding with our 'Adventurous' theme. Childminders and their minded children have been invited to drop-in to enjoy lots of fun activities and help us #CheerforChildminding.

Stirling
Lisa Mackay will also be visiting Braehead Childminding Group on Monday 6 May and Dunblane Childminding Group on Thursday 9 May and joining in with their Childminding Week celebrations.

West Lothian
Ruth is hosting a Teddy Bears Picnic to celebrate Childminding Week; inviting all childminders, groups and their minded children (and teddies too!) to #CheerforChildminding and join her for an afternoon of fun and games, snacks and stories at Almondell and Calderwood Country Park.

Don't forget to share your stories and photos from Childminding Week on your own local SCMA Facebook pages, groups or Twitter pages, and use the hashtag #CheerforChildminding and tag in @ScotChildmind, so we can share them far and wide too!

Big thanks to everyone who’s planning to get involved in Childminding Week!
