NHS Health Scotland guidance for Setting the Table

NHS Health Scotland guidance for Setting the Table
New guidance is available for the NHS Health Scotland publication Setting the Table, which provides nutritional guidance and food standards for early years childcare providers in Scotland.

The guidance contains key amendments to reflect recent policy changes and evidence updates. Its aim is to ensure that children aged 0–5 in childcare settings across Scotland are offered healthy and nutritious meals, snacks and drinks.

NHS Health Scotland and the Scottish Government are currently convening a National Advisory Group to now review and update the resource to incorporate recent policy changes and scientific evidence reviews. The timescale of the review process is to have an updated resource available online in early 2019. A print version will be developed following a further review of Setting the Table taking into account recommendations from the publication of Scientific Advisory Committee on Nutrition ages 1–5 years report expected later in 2019.

In the meantime, summary guidance (pages I to IV) has been produced which highlights the major amendments.
