Working with Families

This course is for childminders who wish to explore a range of issues which would help them address the needs of children who are ‘vulnerable’ and require some additional support due to their individual situations or social backgrounds.

The needs of the children and families vary considerably, including those in crisis and those living with complex and enduring difficulties.  This course will expand your knowledge base and encourage you to be more confident in supporting a range of children in your care.

The intention of this course is to increase your confidence in your ability to work with a diverse range of children, with a variety of needs, by having the chance to explore some of the relevant issues.
It will cover a variety of topics which will be examined at a deeper level with particular emphasis on factors impacting on children’s emotional development and behavioural responses.

This course aims to give childminders the support needed to: 

Expand your knowledge base and encourage you to be more confident in supporting a range of children in your care.

  3. To work in partnership and develop professional relationships.

Course Outcomes

When you have completed this course, you will have core knowledge and understanding of how to:
  • support families with additional and sometimes complex needs
  • provide a safe setting for children and families to feel secure
  • be more confident in how you support a child’s emotional and behavioural development

Our Learn with SCMA team can arrange any SCMA course to come to you - wherever you are in Scotland.
